Great Book Tracking Website

Check out this website!

http://www.goodreads.com/

This is a website which tracks the books you read, want to read & tracks goals & reading challenges. This is a really great tool for dedicated readers. As you explore the website more, it will recommend books, and let you rate books. I personal goal is to read 50 books by the end of this year (2012). This is a small chunk to 1000. Hopefully, I will be a head of my goal! Wish me Luck!

BTW.... I don't know if all you blog heads know this but I do work a part time job, plus a full time mother job, and run a household. Plus when I have extra time, I am a full time community college student. Therefore, this goal of 1000 books is VERY difficult. Reading is not a full time job for me. Maybe one day it will be... but not today.

Georgiana Darcy's Diary: Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice Continued Review

Georgiana Darcy's Diary: Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice Continued
Kindle Edition236 pages
Published April 20th 2011 by Anna Elliott

4/5 Stars - I purchased this Kindle book for FREE & loved it! This is book one in a three part series. This book covers Georgiana Darcy's road to find a husband. She is 18 years old, and her (evil) Aunt Catherine De' Burege is playing match maker. We even get to see the even eviler Mr. Wickham. I think it is a well written book, all written in diary form. I love how the Pride & Prejudice story is continued one year later. You get to see both Lady Elizabeth Darcy & Lady Catherine Bingley too.

The reason for 4 stars is some on the words and thing characters say aren't what I would agree to be 100% accurate. Plus given the relationship with both Mr. Wickham & the Darcy's it makes me question, what are the doing in Pemberly? Plus the awful relationship with Lady Catherine & Miss Elizabeth Darcy?

Overall Good Book!

Review of The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell

What an amazing children book. It was the first book on my list of "Reading 1000 Books in 5 years". FIVE STAR REVIEW!
July 17, 2012 8 and up3 and up

I read the Kindle edition of this book. For myself it was a bit slow in the beginning but really started getting good around chapter 5, after the main characters get stucked into the book. I don't want to give a lot of information away because it is a great book but it is leaks information about fairytale characters. For instance in the book you find out that Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty & Snow White are all related. Plus the Evil Queen escapes Snow Whites Castle. But of course their are more plot twist & even more background information on our most favorite childhood characters. Plus their are many smaller characters such as Jack from Jack & the Beanstalk, Little Red Ridinghood & more! It's like every major childhood character twisted in alternative universe. Most people will find this book very interesting if you enjoy Disney stories, the Brothers Grimm fairytales, and The Chronicles of Narnia.

Ok, Now you what I think... Its your turn. Do you agree? Disagree? Or have something eles to say? Let me know if the comments below. Plus keep looking out for more reviews, random blogging & my road to the 1,000 books in 5 years.

Realizing the Challenge

1825 days (365 days x 5 years)
1000 books that averages out to be 1.8 books a day.
Some books are longer, some are shorter....

My challenge is really making me think. I feel I need to find the be smart about my long books & my short book. I also have decided to participate in other reading/blogging challenges. This will help me keep motivated & stay on track. I have also decided to dedicate 100 for my books to children books. Not like Dr. Suess, but more like Charlottes Web by E.B.White or the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.

Also I have decided that my two year old son will be participating with me. If you google 1000 books before kindergarden, studies show that children have many academic benefits/achievements & higher literacy rates. Although my son has a slight disadvantage since he starts kindergraden in 3 years. So for him it would be 1000 books in 3 years. I think this is 100% manageable.

What the Challenge?

My goal is to read 1,000 books in 5 years.

I know this may not be a challenge for a avid reader, but I am not. Over the last few years I have really lost my place in life. Not to sound depressing but I graduate Springboro High School, unknown to where I will go, what I will do and most importantly will I be happy? I LOVED high school. I loved waking up to friends, interesting classes, and the whole social order. But reality hit me like a brick. At graduation time I was both pregnant & my road map of life ended after summer break.

Longer story, short is its almost three or four years after graduation & I am kinda in the same place. I completed two years of college but haven't worked towards a degree. Even thought I am a amazing mother, great fiance, due to be married in less than a year, a proud house owner (owing no mortgage), and paying off my car, so I am 100% debt free, I feel acceptionally unfulfilled.

So my challenge was inspired by the movie Julie & Julia. This was a movie staring Meryl Streep was Julia Childs & Amy Adams as Julie Powell a writer. The plot is one women attempts to cook all 542 recipes of Julia Childs "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" in one year. This challenge was actually done by a blogger named Julie Powell in 2002. Her blog turned into a book, then a movie. I think her & I both have something in common.

The details of my challenge is this....

Read 1,000 books by September 19, 2017
*This only includes teen books, young adult books & other more adult reading geners. This means that "Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Suess dosen't count.
I will uses this blog to create reviews over my reads & track my progress.
I will be using both the Amazon Kindle (Wi-Fi, 6" Display that was only $69) & the local library to find my books. If anyone has a suggestion for another read please leave a comment on any of my post.

My first book I have decided to reads
